You heard right. I’m playing in alongside electronic vünderkind Elijah B Torn in Bed Stuy, BK this Saturday. Check out the Facebook Invite to RSVP.
Here’s a good summary of the show from the host:
Humans love to explore the boundaries of sound. At times, these explorations are called “music”. Lab de Loops, on April 4th, will be one of those times.

J Dilla has always been among my top few favorite hip hop producers of all time. He left us with an amazing library of tracks after he passed away a few years ago. Amazingly, there are even more gems that weren’t even released. Pete Rock put together 25 of the mostly instrumental tracks on “Jay Stay Paid”. Whoooo Whoooooo!
Find out more details about it on Moovmnt.

So it looks like djchima.com isn’t the only place you can play drum machines online. I came across this drum machine via Crate Kings this morning. Literally AS I was playing around with it the person next to me was playing a Daft Punk drum machine that he had just discovered. They’re both a lot of fun, but let’s not forget who built one of these over a year ago
Granted, this is reminding me that it’s time for me to update the drum sounds on mine

Ok, so I guess I got a little ahead of myself in my last post. Don’t get me wrong, I think a lot of the new features (looper, vocoder, workflow improvements) are awesome. I just got in a little over my head with the Beta version. I can’t say I wasn’t warned, Peter Kirn from Createdigitalmusic.com told me exactly what to expect months ago. Immediately after using it I started running into problems with MIDI mapping – a big part of my setup. Then there were a few times that the program randomly locked up. There were also some minor little problems that happened only occasionally,...
